It’s Called Sympathy You A**

sympathy-post-ittsaa

I consider myself a very positive and optimistic person.

That being said, it doesn’t take too much to annoy me though. But I’m pretty good at either letting it go, holding my tongue, or talking about you in my head.

Nevertheless were all humans and there are times when things just stick with you; mentally or physically.

Now don’t get it twisted this isn’t a rant. And I’m not going to use any more cuss words (sorry papa). But I do have the right to share something that’s on my mind and on my heart. Especially here on my own platform. That being said I will no doubt sound like I’m ranting so we’re just going to have to get over that now. Thanks.

As we all know (I would think all) know that Carrie Fisher, princess to us Star Wars babies, died on Tuesday. And her mother Debbie Reynolds, ‘Good Morning’, sadly followed the next day.

Death is a natural and inevitable part of life. That doesn’t mean we aren’t still sad, and a lot of times mad about it. I’ve been going to funerals since before I could talk. And have lost plenty family and friends in my life.

I understand that these two women were celebrities and I’ve never meant either of them. But that doesn’t mean that they haven’t impacted lives all around the world. Through their movies and activism.

My mom grew up with Star Wars and passed that torch down to me. It’s one of those things that almost my whole family can agree on.

Carrie Fisher was a bad ass woman and funny as hell (sorry papa-last one). And I’ll always think of Disney/Halloweentown, my childhood, when I think of her mother.

Just because I’ve never meet either of these women and they happen to be wealthy celebrities doesn’t mean I can’t be sad or empathic about their loss. I know what that feels like. And I’m incredibly sad for Carries daughter Billie, who lost probably the two most important women in her life in the span of 24 hours. How can you not feel even slightly empathic about that??

Having the title of a celebrity or a well-known person doesn’t stop them from being a human being. And that doesn’t stop us as fellow humans from being able to emphasize or simply have sympathy. If you don’t care then that’s fine, but don’t belittle people who do.

And don’t give me that crap about how it’s the internet and we didn’t personally know them, or that they weren’t real role models. If you can have sympathy for every squirrel you avoid hitting on the road then I think there’s enough left in that cold heart for a human or two.

I know your all wondering who pissed off Alex enough that she had to write a whole post.

Let’s just say I had an encounter with a small-minded person the other day. And I’m not pissed off; but very annoyed. As I said earlier some things just stick with you. This was one and I decided to write it down. I hope that would something tragic ever happened to someone (I will never wish or hope that onto anyone ever) and you do know them that you can try to lend some comfort.

You don’t have to know loss to be able to be there for someone going through it.

I hope you’re all doing well; that you got to enjoy your holiday and that you spent it surrounded by family and friends.

And if you have suffered a loss, recent or not, know that it’s going to hurt for a while but it won’t hurt for forever. Be happy with the time you had with them, short or long. And even if you don’t believe in a higher power, know that I believe they’re in a better place.

Stay safe out there.

Music Monday??

If you know me at all one major thing you should know is my obsession/addiction to music. My headphones are never not on my person. And if they aren’t chances are I will be freaking out and destroying my room to find them. That’s why I have like 4 pairs.

I am constantly looking for new artists and patiently (yeah right) waiting for my favorites to release something new. I’ve never been the person to stick to one genre, if I like it I’ll listen to it.

So I’m debating on starting a “Music Monday” post to follow my QOTW. It could be weekly or bi-weekly.

Maybe talk about a song(s)/album/artist I’m obsessing over that week. And maybe recommend other things from that artist, or even others that I think you could possibly like. I’m thinking of also including my favorite lyrics from the song, or ones that just really stick out to me.

But I’m not 100% in love with the idea so please let me know what you think.

Good idea?? Bad idea?? I’m up for any and all suggestions.

Thanks everybody.

Stay safe out there.

Last Day of School!!!! Last Day of School!!!! Last Day of School!!!! Last Day of School!!!!

If you can’t tell I am extremely excited!!!

Yesterday was the last day of school for seniors at my high school! I am finally done!!!

(I probably should have posted this yesterday but I’ve been sick so bare with me)

CAHS graduation next Saturday (Class of 2014)!!

It has been an interesting four years.

It felt like it took forever to get to this point but as my classmates kept saying yesterday, we made it!

“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different…” – C.S. Lewis

So I just want to say to my fellow seniors that this is only the end of a few chapters in our lives. There’s plenty more to come. And a ton of more pages to add.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

Stay safe out there, its supposed to be really nice in Ohio (yay).

Shakespearean Insults (cont.)

Hi Everybody! Here’s one of the insults I used and another example.

Example: Thou appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. (from Hamlet)

My grandfather and I were looking up insults and he showed me the Shakespearean Insulter. The website generates insults from all of Shakespeare’s works. Their really funny! Especially the long ones. (as kids these days say (lol): Shakespeare totally goes at your neck!)

My last wining insult: Thou art a ruttish base-court trollop. (look it up!)

And there we have it. Hope everyone is doing okay starting off their week. Can’t wait till Friday!!

Shakespearean Insults!!

We got to insult each other in Brit Lit today!!

I probably shouldn’t be so excited about that (lol)

So for class we had to take a word from three columns on a paper we got with different Shakespearean insults. You had to start each sentence with Thou art….

Example: “Thou art a boil, a plague sore, an embossed carbuncle in my corrupted blood.”

( I don’t now the translation for this one but it sounded so mean :-p. This isn’t one we used but you get the idea.)

I think this was one of the funniest projects I’ve done in my 4 years of high school (only a few weeks left).

We had to make 15 or more sentences. The last column was basically a bunch of different ways to call someone (typically a women) an escort (I’m being polite by the way, real words are worse).

We were on teams, Caliban and Prospero (from The Tempest).

I was on team Prospero, we won the battle. I got us two points, yay!

If I get my paper back tomorrow I’ll post the two insults I made and you guys can look them up. It was hilarious, especially when people brushed off their British accents and really got into it. I can’t fake a British accent to save my life (well except for a few phrases).

Anyway this was my high school fun tidbit for the week. Tomorrows Friday!

Senior photos and work on Saturday.

Hope everyone is doing okay and having a great week.

Stay safe out there!

“Dogs are better than human beings because they know but do not tell.”

I liked this quote a lot by Emily Dickinson.

Even though I don’t have a dog (not matter how much Ava chases her tail).

I’ve been wanting to write about my crazy cat since I started this blog.

Mom keeps asking when I’ll post about her. So here we are. Ava turned 8 months old on Sunday!! I know right she’s soo old (lol). Her birthday is in a about 5 months.

The following photos were taken yesterday. Ava was watching tv with me and mom, she likes action movies just like we do.

Doesn’t she look so happy to get her picture taken!

Her eyes were really yellow in these, typically more brown but they change. Anyway this was just a quick post about my crazy one. I’ll post a couple of videos of her having some fun with a paper ball and her tail (not together either).

Hope everybody is having a good week so far.

It’s supposed to be getting warmer here in Ohio (lots of snow melting), I’m not looking forward to it.

Stay safe out there!

I have been saying the same thing for years!! Those moments when your brain just wont shut up!

“I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.” – Edgar Allen Poe

My friend Lauren and I say our heads are iPods, always on shuffle, never really sticking with one song for too long or one is on repeat for a long time (she says it better).

Not having school for the past couple days have made me think of this a lot more, lol. Between being bored and not wanting to do homework.

Especially at night when I knew I didn’t have to get up early so I really didn’t see the point in not staying up late (not like I don’t do that already). Click Here to Read More
